South Carolina re-enactment canceled

An annual Civil War-era skirmish in South Carolina, presented for about three decades at York County’s Historic Brattonsville, has been canceled because of concerns about safety and potential protests. Officials with the Culture & Heritage Museums, which oversees Historic Brattonsville and the Museum of York County, discussed their concerns about “if something did happen” after protests in other parts of the country over Confederate monuments and symbols, said one official. • Article

Selma re-enactment canceled in fee dispute

A three-decade tradition is in danger in Selma, Alabama, where a dispute over city fees is prompting organizers to cancel a major Civil War re-enactment that brings tourists to town each spring. Re-enactment off because of shootings

Boone Hall Plantation has decided to cancel this year's living history weekend out of sensitivity to the shooting massacre of nine worshipers at Emanuel AME in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
