Matthew Barbour, a New Mexico state archaeologist, says the
remains of Confederate soldiers discovered in 1987 in a mass grave site speak
to the violence, loss and futility of war. “It shows the very real
consequence of war,” said Barbour during a presentation on the uncovered
remains of soldiers killed during the Civil War Battle of Glorieta Pass in
1862. “The battle pretty much ended up being
