When
Lexington, Kentucky, began Juneteenth celebrations at African Cemetery No. 2 in
1999, the gathering honored 49 black Civil War veterans whose gravestones were
found during a restoration. Saturday, the
cemetery will honor 100 men who fought with the United States Colored Troops.
Yvonne Giles’ research has found more than 51 additional names, and it has
