Two more scenes from my visit to sites related to the Battle of Utoy Creek in west Atlanta.The top is of North Utoy Creek at Lionel Hampton Creek. Very quiet and bucolic.
The photo was taken from a bike bridge. The trail just up the hill includes exercise stations for walkers and a nice playground.
The bottom photo is either South Utoy Creek or a tributary in the Cascade Springs Nature Preserve on Cascade Road.Sadly, some of the larger creek contains trash and old tires.
Most of the Aug. 6, 1864, main battle took place in the park and just west of there.
