I've been previewing this weekend's big doings at Nash Farm in Henry County. If you've ever wanted to attend a major re-enactment, now is the time. There won't be another one marking the Battle of Atlanta for at least five years.
Up to 2,000 re-enactors and two dozen sutlers will attend.
The Labor Day weekend festivitives kickoff this Friday. Gates will open at 10 a.m., and close at 7 p.m. The second day of the Battle of Jonesboro is expected to start at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday, gates will open at 9 a.m. Kilpatrick's Raid will be Saturday, and is expected to begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Battle of Cheatham's Hill at 4 p.m. Sunday, the Battle of Atlanta is expected to start at 2 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, ages 6-17, and free for children under age 5. A three-day pass is available, at a cost of $25 for adults, and $12 per child. Parking is $3 per car.
