I am working on a campaign level staff ride, and would appreciate Google pins or Lat/Long information for the earthworks at Cascade Springs and Beecher Hampton-assuming the works are accessible without causing damage. Howard who served with the Confederate Army of Tennessee, Co. G, 56th Reg. in 1863 to see if he and James crossed paths in battle. They did not. Xenophren was at Chattanooga and Vicksburg, was briefly taken prisoner when they surrendered, and paroled several days later (I have a copy of his signed parole oath!).CMHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16144987469252944197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382000901773344023.post-43965581121591442342021-03-25T12:17:40.430-04:002021-03-25T12:17:40.430-04:00Thanks for sharing! Thanks for sharing!Phil Gasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01388284468989278770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382000901773344023.post-1094345312666160372021-03-25T08:19:45.542-04:002021-03-25T08:19:45.542-04:00Correction - Anna (not Mary) Elizabeth (Hagemann)....Correction - Anna (not Mary) Elizabeth (Hagemann)...but grandma always went by "Elizabeth"CMHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16144987469252944197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382000901773344023.post-16721930764506699292021-03-25T08:15:59.471-04:002021-03-25T08:15:59.471-04:00James Hervey Clark, Lt for the 112th, wounded in t...James Hervey Clark, Lt for the 112th, wounded in the battle, is my Great, Great, Great Grandfather! Also, highly educated young folks are moving into the area sparking an interest in the battle. Some metal detecting was recently done on a friend's property on a Utoy Creek battle site and hundreds of bullets, some stuck together from hitting in mid air, lends credence to Colonel Perry's assertion of the intensity of engagement at Utoy Creek. Up until their involvement at Franklin, Utoy Creek was the costliest battle of the war for the 104th. Happy to find this blog and will check in again with more info. Major William Jordan was in temporary command of the 8th Tenn. at this battle and speaks of it in his letter home.
